Hi James & Dale

needless to say Cain enjoyed surviving.
Like the activation rules etc my boss ended up great and the lads as regulars.

Only thing I don't like about that kind of thing where no points are spent is if four players get three units each, two get middle of the road stuff one rolls lowest for all four and one rolls the highest for all four.
Massive imbalance in forces with no corresponding cost.

I do like imbalanced games as they can still be fun but the poor sap in a campaign left with a crippled dude may not be so happy, I know getting to act last may actually be good but as the same initiative and leadership level also does your moral to not bugger off etc that could be an issue.

Cain loves it cos he is pretty high and he is not ac caring as some bosses.

I see what you mean about the activation potentially going in 1 players favour. A GM will be able to fix it with something like if you activate 2 squads on the bounce you can't activate a 3rd or there is a negative applied to your next roll.

Also different units types have initiave. The BUF are higher then political militia and army regulars will be higher then them.

When we properly start it I'll ask what faction everyone wants to support and work out what thire starting platoon will be as well as thire HQ eliminate.

I think it also passed the test that it is also fast enough to do a multi player game with.
May slow down with everyone rolling initiative tests.

Seemed to work here, initiative is ok as its rolled in parallel, more chances of draws though but seems ok.

think with four squads I'd give you one max, two average and one minimum, allocate as you see fit except the "veterans" if you have then can't be the worst, anyone has the 5th unit with a HMG they get rolled for.

Have had a dig and have found the IJA, they easily have the models for three squads & a command group, plus a few other odds and sods (suicidal anti tank lunatics for example)
