Saturday 8th Test of Honour.

Postby Dropshort » Sun Dec 02, 2018 1:24 pm

Hi all. Plan is to run a small Test of Honour campaign/tournament/thing on the 8th.
No hard rules and nothing set in stone, more of a practice to see if it works.
More info to follow.

Janco Toy’s Test of Honour campaign and tournament day

Introduction
Welcome to the Janco Toys Test of Honour campaign/tournament day. This is a 30 point campaign that will run over 6 games. The day uses the Test of Honour rules, FAQ, battle guide and darkness and deceit. All of these will be available on to day.

The plan is to run through the 6 scenarios in the battle book while (hopefully) playing agents a different opponent in every game.
The only change to the scenarios as written in the battle guide is that we have made the first Scenarios 12 points. This is to allow people the option of taking the 8 point samurai heroes that have come out since the battle guide was released and still comply with the third of their points spent on commoners rule in the force building.

Models and Painting
The size of models is 28mm (or similar scale). As this is our first Test of Honour event we are not expecting to see fully painted forces. All models will need to be assembled and based as in accordance with the Test of Honour rules. Infantry on 25mm round bases and cavalry on 40mm round bases. Models should be built with the weapons they are armed with as to avoid any confusion during games.

Terrain
Terrain will be set up in advanced by the organisers and we ask that it is not moved during games. As we are running the 6 scenarios in the battle book you should have an idea as to what the tables should look like.

Scoring
Scoring will be 2 points for a win, 1 point for scoring more victory points then your opponents in a game and 1 point for cutting down the enemy samurai hero. The overall winner will be whoever scores the most points, ties will be settled by the player with the most wins, and then most victory points scored.

Army’s/Warbands
• You will need a 30 point army pool for the day that you will pick your forces for the scenarios you are about to play. So if a scenario says you need an 18 point force you will have to pick an 18 point force from the 30 points you have available.
• You will only be allowed 1 samurai hero and a third of your points per scenario must be spent on commoners.
• You may have up to 3 additional Samurai in you 30 point pool, but you may only use up to 2 additional samurai in a battle.
• You can use any cards from any of the expansion boxes currently available

Schedule for the day
• 09:00 Introductions and registration.
• 09:30 Scenario 1 – First Clash. 12 points (30 min game)
• 10:15 Scenario 2 – Seize the Outpost. 15 points (30 min game)
• 11:00 Scenario 3 – The Battlefield. 18 points (45 min game)
• 12:00 Lunch (1 hour)
• 13:00 Scenario 4 – The Spy. 21 points (1 hour)
• 14:15 Scenario 5 – Breakthrough. 21 points (1 hour)
• 15:30 Scenario 6 – Rescue. 24 points (1 hour)
• 16:45 Announce the winner.

What you will need
• Test of Honour dice
• Tape measures
• Tokens
• Injury and dishonour cards
• The unit cards for your 30 point pool
• Enough models for a 24 point warband, though it would be better to have a model for everything in your full 30 point pool.
• A fate deck made up of 12 cards of your choice. If you pick a samurai hero who already comes with a card then that card must be in your fate deck. We won’t be using quests cards for this event.

We will only need to use one players set of tokens, injury and dishonour cards in a battle but we encourage players to bring their own as we don’t have enough to run every game. Should your dishonour and injury decks have the extra cards in from the Dice & Cards expansion, please let your opponent know before the game if you are using your decks.

Above is a (very) rough idea of what the 8th will be a test of.
If it works and we get enough interest, then in the new year we can look at organising a proper tournament.

A friend in need and a promise fuelled by beery bravado means I am out on Sat.
Evening ends in rock city a haunt I have not been to for best part of 20 years, rather more worrying it starts off with breccy and a pint on way to a game of footy between some chaps from Sheffield and Rotherham. First time ever for me.
