Great news for FOW and Bolt Action next year WW2 begins

Postby Tiger 1 » Tue Sep 09, 2014 10:36 pm

Well i have started to sort WW2 out for next year i have just bought a 1943 map of Europe.

The idear is Germany working it way across Europe so thinking of starting this January and running it till either side wins.
we will start from beginning of the war.

Battle for Crete,
Siege of Tobruk:
Kurst
Battle of Dunkirk
Battle of France
market garden
D day
Battle for Berlin if the Germans are losing  or the Battle for Britain if allies are losing

Still working out how its going to run any suggestions on battles or anything you think of come talk to me. This is going to be the biggest thing i have run in the shop so i hope it works :) :P
Better get a new Diary for next year

:feedback: :german: :british: :soviet: :usa:
Boss of jancotoys well i think i am.

Seriously up for this, suggest sticking with a varient on the tested Janco method, i.e. chaos.

Use the total war rules, so air landing forces, recce etc can stay in reserve and outflank, but specify in advance if the force will be Armoured, Mech, Infantry, Air, Artillery etc for the total war options (basically so we can bring the right stuff), also noting what books can be used.

And flag up in advance if a given game will be armour only, infantry only etc - give us time to build and suitably adapt stuff.

A year may be pushing it, but aiming for two may be better - look at six games a year (every other month in effect) so plenty of time for other games as well. Also that allows twelve games :)

Sure we can come up with a suitable timeline.

Had a think, identified 12 battles that provide a decent mix of forces as a suggestion, there are plenty to choose from. Thinking of what we have as armies, and what we can get to with a bit of effort - part of the point being to support the shop afterall.

1. Battle of France (EW)
2. 1st Battle for Tobruk (EW)
3. Barborossa (EW)
4. Invasion of Crete (EW)
5. Stalingrad (MW)
6. El Alamain (MW)
7. Kursk (MW)
8. Cassino (LW)
9. D-Day (LW)
10. Market Garden (LW)
11. Battle of the Bulge (LW)
12. Berlin (LW)

Focus less on mid war as only two books for that.

Go for full war actually following dates of actual events as close as possible.
Great fun researching as well.

Battle of Britain / Battle of Atlantic anyone.

That could also be good, was thinking more as a guide for the events suited to large battles, the idea of gaming some of the smaller ones as head to head games as well is interesting.

Battle of the Atlantic would be good, Micronaughts has all the sub and convoy rules you would ever want, plus campaign type info as well.

Battle of Britain not sure on but Wings of Glory is probably as good as anything, Micronaughts rules do cover air actions but are perhaps a bit simple for this.

The research is half the fun

Hi all well this is going slow but think we have this worked out so we will be useing 2 game systems Flames of war of course :D and we will be useing Bolt Action as well so this should be fun for most of the players to these games.

What i need from you all is which army you doing for either FOW or Bolt Action or both? German/Russian/ allies/?

We will be starting with early war, Med War, Late war.
Books that we will use will be posted soon.

The idear is FOW Germans attack France if they win then there will be 2 objectives and the bolt action will fight for these. the objective towns will depend on the size of the country. If the FOW Germans lose the battle then we dont fight for the towns (bolt action). Im afraid most of the battles for Bolt Action will be in towns and citys some we need lots of buildings :D

There will be small battles you can play. during that week for both games.

Each week ill post up what is happening for that week and the results of what is happening.

Cant wait to start this :D
