So we have:

Axis Powers:

:german: Colin, Fallschirmjäger
:german: Boycie, Festung Company
:german: Reece?

Allied Powers:
:british: James, Commandos
:british: Chris, Infantry Company
:british: Scott, Infantry Company
:usa: Dale, Assault Company

Going both ways:
:british: :german: Mark

Suggest we see on the day exactly what is what, but if we aim for 2k points each?

Will have my German defences with me if anyone needs them:
:german: 2x 88mm gun pillboxes
:german: 2x KwK 5cm gun pillboxes
:german: 4x HMG nests
plus minefields, razor wire and trench lines

More on the allied side works, as static German defences can more or less play themselves, plus any extra points are easily added on more bunkers and similar (not like a fortress company needs than much actual infantry... just lots of concrete)

Have the Germans at 1,995, same list as last year have just re-printed it - also have all the bunkers etc so if I'm not using them they are open to scatter around - or given how little of this list actually moves it would not be hard to just add to the axis side.

Americans, the 29th, are not quiet at 2,000, don't have the stuff to get them spot on, figure for this sort of game that hardly matters, especially as the infantry recycle in beach assaults.

Also brining the 4ground buildings up so can drop them in on the first day or the second day, just got to find a way to get it all in the car.

Thanks to Colin, Janice and James for putting on another great show.
My troops died at the guns in true German style.

Pics from the game.

Calm before the inevitable storm

Lautnant Colin lost half of these to the preliminary bombardment

The allies landings are fast and furious, on their right flank troops and engineers storm the beach with my ostruppen showing willing for a while. On the allied left flank the landing craft disgorge tanks and troops, the tide was flowing from right to left so it is fair to say that Von Boyce had the hardest fight.

Some of the allies in classic gaming pose, beautiful

Allied air observers swarmed overhead.

Boycie bottled up the enemy funneling them into a killing field ranged in by multiple batteries of all sizes.

The axis overall commander seemed well satisfied as his troops were slaughtered at the front he was in his chateaux finishing off the champagne, the allies weren't going to get any. He even survived a 4+ assassination attempt.

Image

Or was this the commander, I forget. Great salute for D Day.

Allies start to get off the beach as the Panzer reserves rush to the rescue.

We really should try something different next year as it pretty much ends up with allies stuck just off the beach with massed artillery and Panzer forces bottling them up but scared to come too far forward.

One of the best though as obstacles were cleared and heroic ostruppen bunkers survived multiple AVRE hits and managed to take out two shermans despite having more smoke than dot cottons front room.

Man of the match apart from my gun bunker must go to the mustachioed hero holding the beach with his 88's and MG teams.
