Whose figures are they? I can't think of many companies that do 12mm.

Bloody Barons look a decent set of rules. I haven't played them but have played others in the series. The figures are based similar to DBA but on a square base with 3 figures per base. I didn't mention them as you said you were trying to get away from small bases.
