What sort of polystyrene? if you mean the white expanded stuff like used for packaging then it depends how long you want the bond to last, given the base material will fall apart anyway simple PVA (but decent quality, though get water soluble) may be a good bet - anything stronger will be far stronger that the stuff you're gluing it to. If you're using PVA to stick other stuff to it then it will all bond together anyway.

Whatever you use try it on a bit of polystyrene first and leave for a good few hours to see if it reacts and melts it as a lot of solvent based glues will

Yes that's the exact stuff leopard. Was pondering making a bit of base terrain out of polystyrene and sticking a plastic mini to it but wasn't sure the kind of bond would achieve using pva, presuming plastic glue is far too strong.

Plastic glue will melt it and make a royal mess.

Another way depends what you are using as a base. Drill a hole and have a bit of wire where said model is going. Make your terrain then clip the wire to leave a bit exposed. Drill a hole in said model and glue to the wire?

Otherwise a decent grip PVA should work and won't damage the model if it comes off. When you just glue it back down.

Try it on a smaller bit of something

the polystyrene will either melt from the glue or will break after a little cos its so brittle. like Dale said try running a pin all the way through to something solid.

of course also if you're covering the top with say grit or scatter anyway, or indeed filler, then make your bit of terrain, with whatever covers it, then glue the model to that, e.g. a layer of sand glued on with pva, then soaked with dilute pva becomes pretty tough, you can superglue a models foot to that.

Really depends exactly what you are trying to do, the one to talk to is big Paul, who works wonders on terrain, if anything is possible he'll know how
