Sharpe, Harper, Harris & Hangman plus a couple more in named rifles & decals, think 35 rifles is probably enough for a small army of them :)

These guys turned up this morning... Not a bad turn around at all, and beautiful models, bit of flash but not anywhere its hard to get rid of and it is flash, not mould slip so they look ok. Hangman & Harris are dead ringers for the actors.

Models from this place http://www.albanminiatures.com/, true scale not heroic and slightly smaller than Warlord or Perry, but only slightly and not enough they can't be used together, besides life would be dull if we were all exactly the same height anyway.

Right then, piccy update..

Frenchists!!

Image

Bit glossy, still need bases finishing then a matt varnish

Image

Also Skirmishers doing the business as opposed to marching

Image

Now have enough for a regiment, 36 models with the 6 skirmishers extra, also enough for Sharpe Practice... Though only the one officer as a big man though for now.

Next up the 95th from Alban, built, primed, sprayed dark green, drybrushed Olive Grey and fleshtones done, not sure they will be ready for the weekend though..

So the French somewhat outnumber the British for now, but the British have more officers so better command and control..

Riight, not posting pics as the boys will be in the north tomorrow, will be a nice surprise :)

Managed to get the 95 rifles from Alban finished, now have 20 riflemen including a few officers and sergeants as with others they are a bit glossy still as I want to do a bit more to them before they are finished properly.

French are a nice infantry column, but short on commanders.. so today I have assembled and painted a pair of mounted officers.

Need to do some French Dragoons and more rifleman though

In between mucking about with my airbrush and some Germans have done a bit more on the Frenchists, started the Perry Dragoons.

Much remains to be done obviously but nice little models, block of 12 mounted dragoons built but not yet started painting them.

Frenchist Dragoons are finally more or less complete.

Image

8 on foot and eight mounted, plus one officer. There are another four mounted ones to paint which includes the standard and trumpeter.

Will have to sort a few more bits but then should be able to run sharpe practice, at least in a smaller scale.

Seems to be up to six groups of troops, each 4-12 men strong, depending on quality, so not a massive number of troops needed, its actually playable with just a single box of Perry stuff on each side, but better with a bit more by the look of it.

Enough with the Frenchists!

Behold, the 83rd Foot, ready for action.

Flags are from Vitrix, umm yeah.. they look the part but by gork they are a pain, transfers. The instructions said "peal off the plastic backing"... or as the case turned out, not. Had to soak the paper off then try to peal them off. Got there in the end, stuck to metal foil painted white.

Have finally managed to get some movement trays for this lot ordered in the correct size so next game won't take as long to set up or move stuff about.

Should also by next time have all the French I have actually painted up which comes to a second group of Line Grenadiers and two more Line infantry, with a half group to avoid needing to use four Old Guard in one group then another officer.

need some sergeant type models, thinking a box of Vitrix French should cover that - eventually

Ordered some Officers & NCOs for the French from Perry's, utterly beautiful models that only needed a minimum of work and in this wonderfully weird material thats apparently known as "metal", who would have though you could make models from such?

and £7.50 for six as well which is pretty good for me as a price for six character models.

Anyway now have an NCO for my Grenadiers and Voltiguers and both the main infantry units have an officer, hope to add a further pair of NCOs and an overall foot commander this week then the French are ready for another outing, which will hopefully involve a few group pictures as I lack the space to lay them all out easily here but quite a few of them now.

They can be a royal chore to batch paint but it turns out doing two at a time from primer to finished doesn't actually take all that long and has a lower risk of suicide.

Think the lot of them is now roughly thus:

5x groups of line infantry + 2 Officers to deploy in two formations
2x groups of line Grenadiers + NCO
1x group of line Voltiguer + NCO
2x groups of skirmish Voltiguer
1x group of Hussars + Officer (+half a group unbuilt)
1x group of Dragoons + Officer (+ half a group unpainted)

likely to add a cannon to this lot, not decided on what one yet though

tempted with a bit more cavalry as so far a single group hasn't managed much and will be more useful in other game systems
