Base German grey, black wash, drybrush 'dark rubber' if you want a clean look, or a dusty brown/beige for a more used look, job done.

or just lather the lower part of the model in a dark brown via an airbrush and forget about it.

Fork that water down black and paint on. it will go on thinner so it will be darker in the recesses
