Not seen a character who is required to assault tanks, there is a Heer guy (windgruber IIRC) who gets a bonus and can assault 6" though, on his own, but can initiate the assault his platoon can then follow up. Haven't ever used him, don't use too many warriors - some find them so horrible the whinging is a pain, others have the warhammer mentality and just feel they should be banned without knowing why.

Shrug.. I have Haans, Haans is better than all of them, he has medals from just about every nation he has faced to prove it.

Ahem..

Anyway, a new project started today, I've been meaning to update my Late War Germans to V3 standard since V3 came out, getting round to making a start on them. Tonights efforts, I've cleaned up and stuck to sticks a single SS platoon, which will see primer tomorrow and then the start of a paint dairy simply so I can come back and have a reference when I want to do the second one. Also have a few bits on order for the bases, my first thoughts was the Arden Forest in late 1944 (to match my 28mm SS), then this drifted to more mud than snow to be a bit more neutral, finally morphed into urban decay which again can be used pretty much anywhere and anywhen.

To this end I'm going to have a go at sculpting some bases I can cast up, have seen a few on eBay etc, and BF do their own rubble ones, all of which look nice but have the models standing on perfectly flat discs among the rubble - so will making my own, then razor sawing the metal troops off the bases so they look a bit better.. The bases should look better than the ones my Soviets are on as well, don't need as many so will be taking a bit more time with them.

Aim is the first pictures tomorrow, which will just be the primed models, then on to the painting, similar methods to the 28mm, dry brushing and glazes planned to highlight the camo in a way thats actually practical to apply.. will see how it goes, if its pants they are metal so can be given an acetone bath and started again.

Once the commander is done will name him, and Haans can have a sadistic incompetent sidekick.. :smack:

Another game at the weekend, a 3:4 defeat to US Armoured Rifles @ 1,625 testing a candidate list for Campaign 2017 on the Axis side.

Close fought game were we got the jump on the Americans but were unable to exploit it before the US reserves arrives and caused havoc.

Hmmm.

Revised the list slightly, cursing that this force is unable to use the excellent NW41 as a smoke thrower.

:german: HQ: CiC: Pz-IVG, 2iC: Pz-IIIG
:german: 1st: 3x Pz-IVF2 in an anti tank role
:german: 2nd: 4x Pz-IIIG in an anti infantry role (reduced from five strong)
:german: 3rd: 3x Pz-IIIG in an anti infantry and general support role (replacing the Pz-38(t))
:german: 4th & 5th: 2x 2x 8-Rad armoured cars as recce
:german: 6th: 2x armoured 3.7cm flak halftracks

Overall the assault platoon is weakened slightly which is a concern but can still run as five with the 2iC, but we also gain the ability to run 2x4 with the CiC in the other unit, provides a bit more flexibility in operations with three armoured platoons, one a specialist in anti armour work with the excellent AT:11 gun, the others more limited at only AT:7 which is a problem fighting decent tanks, but useful in a flanking role.

Think the benefits outweigh the concerns with this configuration generally.

This is in the planning stages ;)

Haans is scared of them, the poor guy ends up sharing an army case with them typically, command have noted this and questions are being asked.
